I’m still stuck on this autoresponder subject! For anyone out there contemplating using a free one: Don’t! Since my autoresponder went live, I’ve had a steady stream of people signing up for my SEO Tips for You newsletter, and the Freelance Writers Manifesto.
This last is my project for my fellow writers. I have no intention of profiting from it. It’s to try and raise awareness in the industry that writers need to get paid a decent wage for what they do.
Back to the autoresponder thing. These companies (there were two involved) were claiming to offer a free service. Now you’d expect that they’d run ads and stuff. That’s not a problem. But they’ve been stealing my traffic, and it’s as simple as that. I’m still seriously mad. I was stupid enough to be using this free junk for over a month. I hate to think how many people thought they were signing up with me, and instead got their info stolen by these creeps.
Just that by itself should be enough to make everyone very careful indeed. It’s bad for business, it’s bad for the Internet, and it’s even bad for your Brand. Seriously bad.
So there you have it. I thoroughly recommend Aweber. If you need an autoresponder (if you can’t think of a reason, then look for one cos they’re great for online business), then you need Aweber!
